These last two emails might be some of the most important I've sent to date. I'm proud of you for opening this up today and being willing to learn about something that confuses so many people. Let's dig in!
While Pinterest is one of the best for finding keywords, we can't ignore the need for finding AND using them in other places.
Today, I’m excited to chat with you about something that’s absolutely crucial for boosting your online presence: finding and using keywords outside of Pinterest. I know, keywords can seem a bit overwhelming (and maybe boring), but trust me, they’re your best friends when it comes to driving traffic and growing your business!
Why Keywords Matter Everywhere
Keywords are like the secret sauce that helps your content get discovered. Whether you’re blogging, posting on social media, or uploading videos, using the right keywords can help your content to get discovered and reach the right audience. You want to use all the keywords that your audience is using in their searches. When they search, the hope is that your content would be included and that it would solve the problems that they are actively searching for!
Let's start with HOW to find the perfect keywords for your content. Here are a few easy steps:
- Take time to know your audience. Think about what your ideal customer might be searching for. What problems are they trying to solve? What topics are they interested in?
- Use Keyword Tools- Tools like Google Keyword Planner, Ubersuggest, and Ahrefs are fantastic for discovering keywords. Simply enter a topic related to your business, and these tools will generate a list of relevant keywords along with their search volumes. Google Trends is a great place to search too, so you can see what is trending. All of these have FREE options! Win!
- Ask your audience! Don’t be afraid to ask your audience directly! Use social media polls or surveys to find out what they’re searching for and what content they’d love to see from you.
Once you’ve got your list of keywords, it’s time to put them to work. Here’s how:
- Blog Posts- Use your keywords in the title, headers, and throughout the body of your posts. Aim for a natural flow – you don’t want to overstuff your content with keywords, but make sure they’re present. Don't have a blog? I'll be covering this in future emails too!
- Website SEO- Make sure that your keywords are included in your meta descriptions, alt text for images, and URLs. This helps search engines understand and rank your content better.
- Social Media- Incorporate keywords in your captions, hashtags, and even in your bio. I had a client change the title in her bio with the right keywords and she went from 700 followers to over 4,000 within the week! This can help your posts get discovered by people who are searching for those terms.
Here's and EXAMPLE in ACTION
Let’s say you are a digital marketer with a wellness niche. You’ve identified "mental health tips" as a key phrase. Here’s how you can use it within your social media posts and on your blog.
- Blog Post Title- “10 Essential Mental Health Tips for Busy Moms”
- Headers- “Why Mental Health Matters,” “Top Mental Health Tips for Everyday Life”
- Body- Naturally weave the keyword into your content. For example, “One of the most important mental health tips is to take regular breaks.”
- Meta Description- “Discover essential mental health tips to improve your well-being and manage stress effectively.”
- Social Media Post- “Check out our latest blog post for top mental health tips to keep you feeling balanced and calm."
You want to use all keywords and phrases that you discover through your research and you want to make sure that your content sounds as conversational as possible. This will ensure the use of your keywords without it sounding robotic. The key is to SERVE your audience and position yourself in a way so they can find YOU.
REMEMBER- Keyword trends change, so it’s important to keep your strategy up-to-date. Regularly review and tweak your keywords to stay relevant and continue driving traffic.
